Police name Market Drayton woman, 80, killed in crash

A woman who died following a two-vehicle crash near Market Drayton was named today as 80-year-old Mary Roberts, who lived in the town.

She died at the scene of the collision on the A529 at the Sweet Appletree crossroads last Tuesday. She was a passenger in a silver Renault Megane which was travelling towards Market Drayton, approaching the crossroads, when it was in collision with a lorry at about 3.45pm.

The Megane's driver, an 81-year-old man, was taken to North Staffordshire Hospital with significant injuries, and the driver of the lorry, a 42-year-old man, sustained minor injuries.

Police are eager to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or the circumstances leading up to it.
