Royal recognition for Shropshire cookware firm

A cookware company from Shropshire has won royal recognition for its "extraordinary" international trading.

Cooking Marvellous, which is based in Battlefield on the outskirts of Shrewsbury and has a shop on Wyle Cop in the town centre, has won the Queen's Award for Enterprise.

The accolade is given to UK businesses which have shown outstanding achievement in innovation, international trade and sustainable development.

The award will be presented to staff by Sir Algernon Heber-Percy, the Lord-Lieutenant of Shropshire on September 2.

Joan Woulfe, managing director of Cooking Marvellous said: "We were absolutely thrilled to have been awarded the Queen's Award for Enterprise this year.

"We received the award in recognition of our "extraordinary growth" in international trade.

"We run the business from our warehouse in Battlefield where we pack and dispatch thousands of orders a week, which are sent all over the world.

"We sell cookware and food to destinations are far flung as Greenland, Bora Bora and the Falklands.

"Our export business has steadily increased over the past three years, and currently 65 per cent of our orders go overseas.

Established in 2005, Cooking Marvellous Ltd sells cookware and food to the consumer and professional sectors.

It won the Queen's Award for International Trade for outstanding overseas sales growth over the last three years.

The company has grown from a single retail outlet to exporting to customers in 90 countries.
