The 35 riders, who hailed from Oswestry, Market Drayton, Whitchurch and Shrewsbury, were put through their paces by four instructors from Bodytech Health Clubs, completing a variety of gruelling exercises on the bikes while cycling between them roughly the distance between London and New York.

The challenge took place in Oswestry's Cae Glas Park and lasted for four hours.

Jeff Anderson, managing director of Bodytech Health Clubs, said: "Our spinathons are becoming more and more popular each year. This is the second we have held in under a month, and the first we have held in Oswestry."

Mike Perry, community fundraising advisor at Severn Hospice, said: "We are truly grateful to Peter and the team from Body Tech for their continued support."
