It is thought that a spark from a tractor could have caused the fire at Goldstone Farm, near Market Drayton, yesterday morning.
Dry conditions and a light breeze helped the fire to spread.
Two fire engines with nine firefighters attended just before noon and used a hose reel jet and beaters to put out the flames.
Shaun Sutton, crew manager at Market Drayton Fire Station, said: "With hot farm machinery and these weather conditions, these things do happen."
Mr Sutton said the crew were off the farm by 2pm.
