Market Drayton Oxfam shop in Mother's Day competition
A charity shop in Shropshire is backing a national appeal which aims to help women around the world to lift their families out of poverty.
Staff at the Oxfam shop in Cheshire Street, Market Drayton, are taking part in the charity's Mother Appeal which supports the world's poorest mothers. To tie in the campaign with Mother's Day, they are running a competition asking local children to draw a picture of themselves with their mothers.
The competition, which is open to youngsters of all ages, will run until Mother's Day when the pictures will be put up in the shop window.
Emma Phillpott, manager of the Oxfam shop, said: "We currently have a mother campaign running until the end of March supported by the UK governments DFID who will match the money we make in this period up to £5 million. To try to gain more support we are running a competition asking local children to draw a picture of themselves with their mums and we will put them up in our window for Mother's Day. "
