Firefighters rescue child from locked car in Market Drayton

A child was rescued by firefighters after becoming locked in a car in Shropshire.

The girl, who has not been named, was released from the car in Frog Lane, Market Drayton, today.

The alarm was raised at about 11.45am and it took firefighters from Market Drayton about five minutes to free the child. She is believed to have been about 11-months-old.

Wayne Edwards, from Market Drayton Fire Station, said: "One of our crew managers used a coat hanger to prize the door open a little bit to lift the toggle to open the door fully.

"The child wasn't in any distress."
