Woman injured in Market Drayton collision

A woman was taken to hospital with back and neck pain following a two car collision on a Shropshire road.

Motorists faced rush hour delays when a blue Vauxhall Corsa and a black Ford Focus collided on the A53 in Market Drayton at around 8.30am yesterday.

The incident happened at the Newcastle Road junction near the B5026 Eccleshall Road.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service, confirmed one woman was immobilised and taken to the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford.

The spokesman said: "We got a call at 8.30am to attend a two car road traffic collision. One female required treatment for back and neck pain. She was immobilised and taken to hospital. Nobody else was injured."

Cathy Anstey, media communications officer for West Mercia Police, added: "We received a call at around 8.30am to say a blue Vauxhall Corsa and a black Ford Focus had been involved in crash. We left the scene at around 11.20am."
