Appeal date over plans for Morrisons store in Newport
Telford & Wrekin Council's legal appeal over plans for a Morrisons supermarket in Newport will be heard in January, it has been confirmed.
Morrisons has been granted planning permission to build a store in Audley Avenue by the secretary of state.
But the local authority is appealing the decision, along with St Modwen, for a second time.
The latest appeal will be heard in the Royal Courts of Justice in the City of Westminster.
HM Courts & Tribunals Service said it would either be on January 21 or January 22.
Telford & Wrekin Council argues that the developers behind the store are not contributing enough towards road improvements in the area.
The council favours a larger Sainsbury's on land that it owns in Station Road.
There are also plans for an Aldi in Audley Avenue and a Lidl at Mere Park Garden Centre.
