£7m revamp unveiled at Lilleshall National Sports Centre

Refurbishments costing almost £7m will ensure Lilleshall National Sports Centre remains a top destination for the UK's leading sportsmen and women, bosses have said.

Work has been ongoing for more than a year and includes a new five-court sports hall, changing rooms and a 25-room accommodation block.

The new £6.9m facilities also include a strength and conditioning gym and a rehabilitation centre which will be used to help athletes on the road to recovery, including Premier League footballers.

Lilleshall is home to British Gymnastics and Archery GB and is used by the leading competitors in those sports and is also used by the local communtiy.

Sport England property director, Charles Johnston, said the National Lottery funded work would ensure Lilleshall played a key role in elite sport in the UK.

"These new and improved facilities will ensure Lilleshall remains at the forefront of community and elite sport," he said.
