Colourful gardens on show as Market Drayton In Bloom competition launches
Greenfingered residents in Shropshire are being invited to transform their town into a riot of colour as part of a blooming competition.
Market Drayton Town Council has launched its In Bloom Garden Competition which is held every summer for residents and businesses.
Councillor Tim Beckett, mayor of Market Drayton, said: "We had a good turnout last year.
"Flowers came out a lot earlier last year compared with this year because of the bad winter we have had. It means people have still got time to get planting.
"We have got different categories this year. We would like to get more schools involved."
Residential categories include best front garden, back garden, patio, allotment/veg garden, water, environmentally friendly, and group dwelling.
Business categories include best shop, small business and large business. There is also a category for best school.
Application forms are at the town hall, Shropshire Council Customer Services or the library. Closing date is July 19. Judging will be on July 23 for residential and July 25 for businesses.
