Much Wenlock hand gun stand-off officers back at work
Firearms officers who were involved in a dramatic stand-off with a gunman on the streets of a town in Shropshire have returned to work.
The officers, who helped detain the man who was walking around Much Wenlock with a hand gun and tried to enter a home in Stretton Road on March 31, have been praised for their 'outstanding professionalism' by West Mercia Police's Deputy Chief Constable Simon Chesterman.
A shot was fired at the man during a stand off but did not hit him. The man, who was in his 50s, was arrested after he was tackled by police dogs.
He was later detained under the Mental Health Act.
Mr Chesterman said it was normal practice after a police firearm had been discharged for the officers involved to be removed from operational police firearms duties whilst an investigation took place.
