Camilla Dallerup helps Oakengates Theatre panto score sales record
Telford's Christmas pantomime starring Strictly Come Dancing's Camilla Dallerup was the most successful production in the venue's history, delighted theatre bosses said today.
Tickets sales for Cinderella at The Oakengates Theatre @ The Place soared this year making it the most popular panto in the theatre's 12-year run.
Bosses said 17,227 tickets were sold making a profit of £167,952, smashing all previous box office records.
Previously, the largest profit was made in 2006. A production of Snow White sold 15,556 tickets, making £136,836.
While 2008 saw the biggest ticket sales, when a production of Peter Pan sold 17,141 tickets making a profit of £128,000.
Theatre manager Debbie King said: "Telford & Wrekin Council and I are delighted that Oakengates Theatre's 2012 panto has broken box office records for ticket sales.
"It is fantastic so many people are visiting the theatre to see this annual treat. Cinderella is obviously a favourite with our residents.
"The classic tale has come alive this year in Telford with laughs, amazing choreography, stunning sets and an all-star cast."
Last year a production of Robin Hood saw sales of 14,089 bring in £130,903.25, while 15,225 tickets brought in £132,947 for Jack and the Beanstalk in 2010.
