A big breakfast proposal for Shropshire couple Simon and Deborah
A couple from Shropshire have got engaged - live on BBC Radio 2.
Millions of listeners heard as Simon Moxham, 38, from Uppington, near Shrewsbury, popped the question to his partner Deborah Hinton, 40, during DJ Chris Evans's breakfast show.
Miss Hinton said she was stunned by the surprise proposal – and said 'yes'.
The couple were invited to appear on the celebrity DJ's radio show after they raised £5,000 for Children in Need during a charity auction in Cheshire earlier this year.
They placed the generous bid for a paper cup signed by Mr Evans at his Car Fest North motoring and fundraising event in September.
Miss Hinton, who owns the Rizzo hairdressing salons in Shrewsbury and Telford, said: "He asked us to come on the show and go on a pub crawl with him."
They travelled to London for the breakfast show on Thursday where they met Top Gear presenters James May and Jeremy Clarkson, who were also guests on-air.
At the end of the show Mr Moxham announced to listeners he was getting married on Christmas Eve – and then promptly proposed to Miss Hinton.
She said: "I was absolutely gobsmacked, I just didn't expect it at all."
