Shropshire comic Greg Davies on bill for charity fundraiser
Tickets are still available for a comedy showcase this weekend featuring Shropshire-born funnyman, Greg Davies, star of TV's The Inbetweeners.
Comedy in the Castle will be held within the medieval walls of Ludlow Castle on Sunday at 7pm to raise cash for Severn Hospice.
Hospice chiefs have urged local people to support the show which also features comedians Toby Hadoke, Dan Nightingale, Holly Walsh and Paul Tonkinson.
Organiser Jon Bruford said after the comics had entertained the crowd a local band would round off the evening.
He said: "The evening closes with the superb George Barnett and the Ninth Wave, a local singer-songwriter and his band heading for great things.
The doors open at 7pm, and it finishes between 10.30am and 11pm.
"That's one great band and five-excellent comics, and all in support of Severn Hospice. The event is in the castle's outer bailey and is not seated.
The lawn is really lovely though. Bring a blanket to sit on, maybe."
Greg Davies was raised in Wem and recently gave a one-off homecoming performance at Shrewsbury's Theatre Severn, which was televised on the satellite channel Dave.
Comedy in the Castle will take place just hours after hundreds of runners from across the country take part in the Ludlow 12k event, which also aims to raise money in aid of the funds at the Severn Hospice.
Tickets for the show cost £20 and are available at www.comedyinthecastle.co.uk
