A 21-year-old woman is planning to climb The Wrekin eight times in one day to raise money for a project in Bolivia.

Katie Delamere, of Oak Avenue, Newport, hopes to raise about £800 by completing the challenge on July 3.

She needs the money to complete a four- week project in Bolivia during the summer.

Katie will work for Latin Link to support a local church by doing plastering, painting and repairs.

She will also work with young people using music, drama and sport.

Katie said she has previously completed some similar work in Kenyan while completing an internship with Christian Aid.

"I spent two weeks visiting projects over there," she said.

"But this will be different as I will be living amongst the community.

"I'm really looking forward to the experience."

Katie has already raised about £1,000 towards the trip thanks to donations from her family, the congregation at St John's Church in Muxton and The Rotary Club of Newport.

She is now in training for her Wrekin challenge, which she anticipates will take about eight hours.

"I have gone up The Wrekin twice every day this week," she said. "Eight times is going to be hard.

"I am also looking for volunteers to help walk up a leg or two of my venture to motivate me, particularly on the latter legs."
