A man in his 30s was rescued by firefighters who broke down the door of his flat after a grill pan caught fire.
A man in his 30s was rescued by firefighters who broke down the door of his flat after a grill pan caught fire.
The man, believed to be about 36-years-old, was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation after the blaze yesterday.
Fire crews from Hodnet, Nantwich and Market Drayton were called to the incident in Upton Court flats in Longlands Lane, Market Drayton at about 12.40am.
The man, who has not been named, was treated at the scene by paramedics but was not sent to hospital.
A spokesman for Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service, said: "We were called to an incident in Market Drayton at 12.40am on Sunday morning.
"A fire had started involving a grill pan. We forced entry to the property are gave one gentleman oxygen for slight smoke inhalation. It was a very straightforward job and the fire was dealt with quickly and effectively. The gentleman required no further medical care."
Jane Fitzpatrick, West Mercia Police Force duty inspector, said there were no suspicious circumstances involving the fire.
She said: "The fire brigade called us to let us know about a fire on Longlands Lane. There was one male casualty and he was treated by paramedics.
"We understand that the fire was started using a grill pan by the gentleman himself."
