A road in Market Drayton is to close for up to a week to repair a collapsed sewer.

Farcroft Drive will close on Tuesday between Shrewsbury Road and Alexandra Road.

United Utilities spokesman Gareth Roberts said the work was essential. He added: "A resident reported a blocked drain to us so we put a camera down and discovered it had collapsed. The impact on other customers is normally pretty quick so it implies the collapse was very recent."

He said: "We're sorry for the short notice and the disruption this will cause but the work is absolutely essential."

Councillor Mark Whittle warned it could cause 'mayhem' because the road is on one of the main bus routes.
