A teenage girl was punched and pushed to the ground by a group of youths outside a supermarket in Newtown, police today said.

A teenage girl was punched and pushed to the ground by a group of youths outside a supermarket in Newtown, police today said.

The assault happened at 3.15pm on Saturday outside Tesco in Pool Road.

Police today said the girl was treated for minor injuries at the scene following the incident which involved a large group of teenage boys and girls.

Constable Ryan Sweetman said he was appealing for witnesses.

He said: "Police are interested to speak to the driver of a grey/dark silver Vauxhall Astra and the driver of a white Transit van with Barhale written on the side as it is believed these people may have witnessed the fight."
