Controversy over a six-foot high fence dubbed Market Drayton's Berlin Wall has intensified after a woman claimed that vital minutes could have been lost in treating her husband following a suspected stroke.
The woman, who asked not to be named, has called for the fence separating Grosvenor Road from the Fairfields housing estate to be torn down after it took 15 minutes for a Community First Responder to reach her husband.
Paramedics arrived at the house in Grosvenor Road just after 11.30am on Tuesday and the man was taken by to the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford.
The woman said: "My husband was really ill on Tuesday, his mouth was dry and when he tried to walk about, he was all over the place. I rang 999 and a CFR came but because of the fence, he had to runaround the estate, which took 15 minutes."
The fence was put up in September after plans to demolish a set of flats notorious for crime and antisocial behaviour were unveiled by Meres and Mosses Housing Association.
