Wrekin MP Mark Pritchard today warned Telford & Wrekin Council that plans for mass development in Newport could go before central government, unless the authority listens to residents.
The council is due to run the rule over four separate applications for around 850 houses and two supermarkets in the new year.
But Mr Pritchard said today: "Unless the borough council listen to the genuine concerns of both residents and businesses in the town, any decision to go ahead with the developments as they currently stand could be subject to judicial review."
The most controversial of the plans includes 350 houses and a 60,000sq ft supermarket, along with a business park and care homes, on Station Road.
A council spokesman said residents "can rest assured that all comments and feedback received as part of the full consultation process in relation to these applications will be passed through the appropriate channels".
Mr Pritchard said the creation of nearly 300 store jobs should not be a 'Trojan horse' for development.
