Council chiefs will meet next week to discuss how to persuade the Welsh Assembly to build a bypass in Newtown as soon as possible.

Powys County Council's cabinet will meet on Tuesday to agree the best way to lobby the Assembly.

Campaigners have been calling for a bypass for more than a decade as queues stretch out in both directions up to five miles daily.
