Reverend Martin Tanner, from St Mary's Church, confirmed prayers were said at St Mary's Church during services yesterday. Fusilier Griffiths was described by his family as caring and fun loving.
Kent Police, the MoD and health and safety officials are investigating the death.
North Shropshire MP Owen Paterson and Councillor Kath Brown, Mayor of Market Drayton, have both expressed their condolences to the soldier's family.
