The format of the next Shropshire County Show is to be revamped, just two years after its return.

The event will change from its current two-day format to a pair of events split over two weekends, organisers said today.

The Shropshire County Horse Show will run on May 19 next year and the Shropshire County Agricultural Show on May 26, both at the Berwick Road Showground.

Show director Bernie Hutchinson said organisers had given a "proactive" response to concerns raised over the show by exhibitors, traders and visitors.

He said two one-day events would work better logistically and hopefully result in more exhibitors and larger crowds.

Mr Hutchinson said: "We are trying to reinvent something that is broken and put it right a little bit. This is ground zero and we take it forward from here."

Shropshire County Show chairman Neale Sadler added: "Following this year's show, the overwhelming feedback received were that everyone wanted a one-day show, especially the agricultural trade and livestock exhibitors."
