Prince Andrew was due in Shropshire today to dish out medals to county-based soldiers back from a six-month tour of Afghanistan.

Prince Andrew was due in Shropshire today to dish out medals to county-based soldiers back from a six-month tour of Afghanistan.

The Duke of York was to visit Clive Barracks in Tern Hill, near Market Drayton, which is home to 1st Battalion, The Royal Irish Regiment.

The regiment is to hold a Waterloo Day medal parade to honour all those who took part in Operation Herrick 13 in Afghanistan.

Prince Andrew was expected to hand out medals including Elizabeth Crosses in his capacity as the regiment's colonel-in-chief.
