The boyfriend of murder victim Amrit Kaur Ubhi today spoke about his love and dreams of spending the rest of his life with her.
Stuart Loakes, 30, from Glossop, who is a sergeant in the 2nd Battalion the Rifles regiment, paid tribute to his girlfriend for the first time since her death.
He said: "We had such an amazing relationship and were on the cusp of a beautiful life together once she graduated this year. It's crazy trying to re-sort and re-evaluate one's life, as all my future plans were based around our life together."
The court heard how Ubhi did not approve of his daughter's relationship with a white man and instead tried to set her up with Sikh men.
Ubhi denied the claims and said Mr Loakes was an intelligent man.
But colleagues at Monsoon in Telford Shopping Centre said Miss Ubhi had regularly talked of marrying Mr Loakes and having a family of her own.
Mr Loakes added: "Amrit has always been a balance and beacon in my life, keeping me up when I was down and my path true if I started to waiver.
"The moment I heard my light had been extinguished I have missed her with all my senses, seeing her smile when she woke, the soft taste and warmth of her embrace, the new baby-like smell of her hair and the calm reassuring sound of her voice.
"Her loss is and will always be felt by many."
