A 16-YEAR-OLD Mid Wales student has died after being involved in a collision with a bus.

Kyle Fawcett, of Welshpool, died following the accident which happened in Newtown yesterday.

Police said the tragedy happened as the bus was leaving Newtown Bus Station in Back Lane at about 6pm.

Today Kyle's devastated family paid tribute to a "joyful, fun-loving lad" who was "always having a good time".

They said Kyle was studying engineering at Coleg Powys with a view to joining the Army as a mechanic in the future, having also served as a cadet.

His mother, Sarah Cadwallader said she was too upset to speak today.

His brother Jon Fawcett, 19, said: "He was a joyful, happy, fun lad who was always after having a good laugh and having fun.

"You were my closest friend Kyle and I love you so much. You are gone. Taken from us and I miss you more than ever."

Kyle's father, Alan Fawcett, wrote a tribute on a Facebook group set up in memory of his son.

He said: "You will always live on in our hearts and our minds. The memory of your smile will brighten my day whenever I feel down."

Kyle also had a sister and another brother.

Dyfed-Powys Police are appealing for anyone with any information about the accident to contact them as soon as possible.

They said the bus was a local service which had just left the town's bus station and was in the process of entering Back Lane when the accident happened.

"The bus was on a local service and had just left the bus station and was in the process of entering Back Lane when the collision occurred. The youth was treated at the scene by paramedics and then taken by ambulance, under police escort to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital."
