Countless people in the Ludlow area have been left without TV pictures for more than 36 hours due to technical problems with a transmitter.

George Anderson, from Middleton, near Ludlow, said he started getting interference with the signal on all channels at about 6pm on Wednesday. He said a number of his neighbours had also been affected.

Staff at Clee Hill Electrics said they had received a number of calls from concerned residents and said it the issue was affecting people across the Ludlow area. Engineers and a specialist team were at the site exploring the problem today.

It is not yet known how many homes have been affected by the problem.

A spokeswoman for Clee Hill Electrics said: "Ours are off in the shop. It seems to be the Whitcliffe transmitter.

A spokesman for Arqiva, the firm that maintains the transmitter, said: "We have sent two engineers and there is a specialist team on the way. Hopefully it should be back to normal as soon as possible."
