The robbery happened between 1.30pm and 2pm on Wednesday.

Dyfed Powys Police spokesman Sharon Reynolds, today appealed for anyone with information about the incident to come forward to police.

She said: "A 32-year-old man was confronted by a man with a knife opposite the railway station in Newtown.

"The offender demanded cash and the victim, in fear for his safety, handed money over.

"The man then made off toward the town centre away from the railway station.

"The victim attended Newtown police station and reported the matter. He was unhurt."

The robber is white, aged between 25 and 33, of skinny build and 5ft 11 to 6ft tall.

Police said that he had a distinctive fresh-looking scar on the left side of his face.

He was wearing a dark blue waterproof hooded jacket, black trousers and black trainers.

Miss Reynolds added: "The police at Newtown would like to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and who can assist the police."
