The Shropshire and Mid Wales Fertility Centre is now ranked as the top NHS IVF clinic in the country.
Latest figures published by the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority show the Shropshire and Mid Wales Fertility Centre has the highest IVF success rate of any NHS Centre in the country for women under 35 having treatment.
The clinic's success rate for women under 35 of 50.9 per cent compares with a national average of 36.3 per cent. This result is 13.4 per cent higher than the next highest centre in the West Midlands.
The centre is based at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, with patients also seen at the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford. Services are provided for patients from Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin, North and Mid Wales, Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Worcester, Herefordshire, Staffordshire, Cheshire, and Merseyside.
Jason Kasraie, consultant embryologist at the centre, said: "The whole team is extremely pleased with this result. It underscores the message that as a department we are able to provide patients with an excellent quality care and most importantly high success rates locally.
"Patients don't have to travel to London or another large city in order to receive both the highest standard of care and a very high chance of success when compared to the national average."
