Boss Andy Sinton today made versatile defender Liam Murray his third summer signing at AFC Telford United.

The 24-year-old, who can play in the centre or on the left of the back four, has penned a one-year contract.

He follows right-back Ashley Wooliscroft and midfielder Steve Abbott in committing to Sinton's Telford.

Murray began his career as a youngster at Shrewsbury but established himself in non-League with Stafford Rangers.

He also played for Droylsden in the Blue Square Premier, and in the last two seasons has turned out for Redditch, King's Lynn and Solihull Moors.

"He's a good age and he's got good experience," said Sinton today. "He's been a bit unsettled over the last few years and been at a few places, but he's someone who was being courted by a few clubs at our level.

"He's chosen us and I'm delighted to have him — he gives us more competition for places and it's a bonus that he can play on the left as well."

Meanwhile, Sinton is stepping up his preparations for the start of pre-season training next Tuesday.

He has lined up a Birmingham-based goalkeeper who will be coming to training with a view to earning a deal and fighting with Ryan Young for the No 1 shirt.

He has also arranged a number of trialists - including one with Football League experience — and will monitor them for a week or two before deciding whether to pursue his interest.

The Bucks boss is also speaking to two more of his existing squad.

He is today meeting with former Port Vale forward Steve Thompson, who is back from holiday, and is planning to finalise a deal for midfielder Phil Trainer over the weekend.
