Opening date set for Tesco

Work on Newtown's long-awaited Tesco superstore will be completed for a February 22 opening.

Tesco had hoped its new store in Pool Road would open in December but failed to complete associated roadworks in time.

But today bosses confirmed it would be open on February 22.

The multi-million pound store has created 340 jobs, which are both full and part-time.

The store's manager Matthew France said: "We are all really excited and cannot wait for opening day. We hope the residents of Newtown and the surrounding areas will be very happy with their new store."
