Jacobi Caudwell was one of several children receiving Woman's Own Children of Courage awards.

The youngster was with his grandad, 60-year-old John Cauldwell, a retired GP from Market Drayton, on Bodafon Mountain, Anglesey, when Mr Cauldwell fell into a disused well hidden by overgrown bushes.

He broke his lower left leg and ankle and could neither walk nor crawl. With no mobile phone, it was up to Jacobi, son of mobile phone tycoon John Caudwell, who lives near Loggerheads, to get help.

Despite being just five years old the youngster trekked for a mile across a heath, over walls and over a hill to reach the nearest neighbours.

Mr Cauldwell was airlifted to hospital and since the incident in the summer has made a full recovery.

Jacobi was the youngest award winner today.

When his mother Helen went for her 39-week scan she was told by the consultant they could barely find Tom's heartbeat. Helen was rushed in for an emergency Caesarean and Tom was nursed in intensive care.

Tom set himself the challenge of climbing all 214 of the Wainwright Peaks, and after three years, 480 miles of walking and more than 150,000ft of climbing, he became at six one of the youngest people yet to complete the challenge.

The seven-year-old has raised £2,500 for Sheffield Hospitals' Charitable Trust and £3,000 for Community Action Nepal.

Also among those honoured were brother and sister Cameron and Mollie Millard, from Arbroath.

Aged just seven and nine they look after their cancer-stricken mother, allowing their father to continue his work with the Royal Marines.

The awards were due to be presented by singer Peter Andre at Westminster Abbey and those attending include stars of Strictly Come Dancing, Coronation Street, EastEnders, X Factor and I'm A Celebrity, and Esther Rantzen and Michael Ball.
