Market Drayton's mayor said the town can "breathe a sigh of relief" now that a canal which sprung a leak and blighted summer trade has reopened to boat traffic.
Repairs to The Shropshire Union Canal at Shebdon Embankment in Staffordshire were completed last week.
Councillor Roy Aldcroft, who is also chairman of the town's Chamber of Trade, said British Waterways had got everything done as quickly as possible.
