Ambulance staff believe the horse then stood on the woman's head after she fell from the animal while riding on land off Willeymoor Lane in Tushingham cum Grindley, in Cheshire, just before 7pm yesterday.

Murray MacGregor, West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman, said: "Unfortunately, the horse appears to have stood on her head. The woman had a head injury, as well as neck and shoulder pain.
