Charity-run museum hit by vandals

Vandals have attacked a charity-run north Shropshire museum for the third time since it opened its doors two years ago.

The latest attack on the Story of Drayton saw an eight foot by six foot window broken, which will cost between £750 and £1,000 to replace.

The museum, in Shropshire Street, tells the story of the town, and is run by the Market Drayton Civic Society.

Clive Chapman, project manager at the museum, said the attack was "so annoying".

"It is the second time this year," he said.

"They smashed in the door glass in the beginning of February. They have had a real go at this one this time.

"It happened just before we opened two years ago, they smashed the main shop window in. It's the third lot of smashing we have had there. It seems very unfair."

Mr Chapman said the attack had also ruined signs on the window.

"We are a charity, we are not funded by anyone," he said. "It's pretty mindless."
