Four people were hurt when a van and car collided in Mid Wales.

Four people were hurt when a van and car collided in Mid Wales.

One woman had to be cut free from her vehicle, while three others were taken to hospital by ambulance suffering minor injuries.

The incident happened on the A489, about two miles east of Newtown, yesterday at about 11.30am.

Rob Luke, of Newtown fire station, said: "The accident involved a car and a van. There were four casualties in total and one female had to be released from the car by fire service personnel using hydraulic cutting equipment. The road was closed for about one hour."
