Serviceman charged with child murder

A serviceman appeared in court today charged with the murder of a young child in Shropshire.

Shaun Thompson, 25, appeared at a special sitting of Shrewsbury magistrates court early this evening.

Thompson is charged with the murder of 21-month-old Kieran John Wynn Edwards at Market Drayton on June 27, 2007.

Thompson, whose address was given as RAF Scampton, Lincolnshire, was refused bail by magistrates and remanded in custody to appear at Shrewsbury CrownCourt on May 5.
