Gary Jackson, now of Rainham in Essex, received a three-year community order and must attend a community sex offenders' group.

He must also register as a sex offender for five years.

He admitted six offences of making indecent images.

Prosecuting counsel Mr Karl Scholz told Caernarfon Crown Court that the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre had alerted police.

A group supplying images of child abuse had used a number of PayPal accounts for payments, the court heard.

Jackson had paid 94 US dollars in March 2007 and 99 US dollars two months later to access the abuse websites.

In June last year police searched his flat in Broad Street, Welshpool, which Jackson had shared with his girlfriend for ten months.

Mr Scholz said a computer tower was removed from the Welshpool property and police discovered that more than 100 images had been deleted.

Jackson told police he started viewing adult porn then moved to child porn, but said he was remorseful.

Mr Michael Whitty, defending, said self-employed Jackson worked for a drainage firm.
