A man's body was discovered in a Telford street minutes after he was reported missing by his wife, an inquest heard.

Darren Williams, of The Nabb, St Georges, was found in Sutherland Road, Wellington, shortly after 5am on Saturday.

At an inquest opening yesterday, Mr Michael Gwynne, coroner for Telford and Wrekin, heard the 36-year-old tool maker had been out with his brothers the previous night.

His wife called the police when she discovered he had not returned home.

His body was found near Wrekin College. Doctor Nicholas Green, consultant pathologist, said the cause of death was "hanging by the neck". The inquest was adjourned for 10 weeks.

The death comes after Mr Gwynne raised concerns about the number of young men committing suicide in Telford. He urged people to seek help by calling Samaritans on 08457 909090.
