Rhydian Roberts, a talented baritone singer from Powys, has already made his mark with the controversial judges on the ITV weekend ratings top show - but not all for the right reasons.

On Saturday 24-year-old Rhydian caused a stir in the X Factor's bootcamp show, thinking he would sail through but instead coming up against a less than impressed judge, Sharon Osbourne.

As Rhydian performed his version of Delilah by Tom Jones, the judges were left divided with Sharon pulling no punches saying: "I want to throw things at him, he's revolting."

But Simon Cowell recognised Rhydian's talent and was keen to keep him in even though he described him as "the most conceited person I've ever met in my life".

But Rhydian, a vocal studies student at Birmingham University, was successful in being selected for the final 12 and joined up with two other singers in the 14 to 24 category.

He will be mentored by new judge Dannii Minogue.

Dannii, Kylie Minogue's younger sister, joined the judges this year along with choreographer Brian Friedman but Brian was later replaced by Louis Walsh.

The singer joined the team in a deal reportedly worth more than £250,000.
