Surprise for slimmer Hyral

Slimming experts were so impressed with an Oswestry pensioner's weightloss they chose her to appear in a national magazine.

Hyral Thomas, 64, from Whittington, lost just under two stone and, after reaching her target, was whisked off for a photoshoot in London to appear in this month's edition of WeightWatchers magazine.

She took up the points programme diet after joining WeightWatchers in Oswestry three years ago due to her high blood pressure.

She has now slimmed down from 11st 7lb to 9st 11lb, and a dress size 14 to a 10-12. She said: "I feel so much healthier because I am not carrying the extra weight around and now my blood pressure is fine."

The magazine was impressed by Hyral's outlook on life while losing the weight. She says 60 is the new 40 and anything is possible at any age.

"I started going to WeightWatchers because I had high blood pressure," she said. "I had to have it checked every month, and a friend was going so I went with her.

"The leader, Carol Lewis, is an inspiration and she makes it fun.

"Out of the blue, they rang me up from London and said they wanted me to go down for a photoshoot.

"It was quite exciting going down there. I was given a makeover by the same people that do Cat Deeley and Carol Vorderman.

"It just goes to show that anything is possible at any age. If anybody had said I would have been featured in a national women's magazine I would have laughed, but look at me now."

Hyral, who works at the Royal Bank of Scotland, continues to go to WeightWatchers to maintain her weight.
