Youngsters start at £70m centre
Thousands of Shropshire youngsters went back to school including the first ever pupils at a new £70 million flagship learning centre. About 400 year seven and eight pupils arrived at the brand new Hadley Learning Community, in Telford, for the autumn term.
Headteacher Dr Gill Eatough said she was delighted to see the youngsters after months of planning and building work.
She said: "Now the children have finally arrived, the whole campus, which we have spent so long planning and designing, has just completely come to life. We've got brand new staff and it's a big challenge for everyone but it's a fantastic moment."
Years nine, 10 and 11 start at the state-of-the-art school on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, there were eight new starters at the village primary school in Morda near Oswestry - including the head.
John Eglin, who has moved from Mount Pleasant Junior School in Shrewsbury, has taken over from Lesley Hall and says he plans to build on her success.
And the county's largest school, The Marches School and Technology College at Oswestry, welcomed 16 new staff and 245 Year 7 pupils.
While a multi-million pound education centre for children with special needs in Shifnal is undergoing a "phased opening" this week.
Young Options College has been built on the Lamledge Lane Industrial Estate and will take up to 50 pupils with special needs from Higford Hall School in Beckbury - which is being developed into a centre for autistic children.
