The show, which runs twice daily until Sunday night, features songs from the Disney film and a host of modern pop tunes.

Rachel Buchanan, director of the Assembly Rooms, got a sneak peak of the production yesterday accompanied by 200 school children.

She said: "It's a very lively show full of singing and dancing and involves lots of audience participation. There are songs from the film such as I Can Show You the World but more modern ones such as Call Me Maybe by Carly Rae Jepsen.

"There are performers of every age taking part and even some people from the audience will get dragged up on to the stage.

"We have 10 magical shows taking place in total.

"Two were staged yesterday and then two every day until Sunday.

"The afternoon performances take place at 2pm with the evening performances starting at 7pm."
