He has been booked by bosses at Theatre Severn to appear on the opening night of the Shrewsbury International Comedy Festival later this summer

Compered by MC Dan Nightingale, Lost Voice Guy will be the first act of the night.

While he can't talk, the audience need not fear that he will be silent.

He is (probably) the first stand up comedian to use a communication aid. He won the BBC New Comedy Award 2014 and has been commissioned to write a sitcom for BBC Radio 4, which is titled 'Ability'. This is due to be broadcast in 2018.

He has warmed up for the likes of Ross Noble and Jason Manford and an article about him in The Guardian said that finding humour in strange places was one of his strengths.

Having won Britain's Got Talent last weekend and pocketed £250,000 winnings, the funnyman, who has cerebral palsy and uses pre-recorded sentences on a computer for his stand-up act. will be on stage as part of the Festival Jesters show on July 19.

The 37-year-old is a patron of national charity The Sequal Trust, based in Ellesmere, which provides technology for those who are non-verbal, have incoherent speech, or who have learning and communication difficulties.

Beki Poole, marketing officer at Theatre Severn said: "After the success of last year’s comedy festival we are very excited to welcome Britain’s Got Talent winner Lost Voice Guy who will perform as part of the bill for a special Festival Jesters evening.

"Tickets have already sold out and we can’t wait to see what he has in store for our Shrewsbury audience."
