Travel review: Emily Bridgewater visits Peppa Pig World at Paultons Park

They say never meet your idols. However, if you’re a two-year-old girl and your hero is a precocious pink pig, then a trip to Peppa Pig World to meet the star of the show is a must – you won’t be disappointed.

Paultons Park in Hampshire

Peppa, George, Daddy Pig and the gang all make regular guest appearances around the family attraction, part of Paultons Park in Hampshire.

But meeting an idol is only part of the fun as there are seven rides, play areas and themed eateries and shops to fill your day.

Our little girl especially loved flying high in Peppa’s Big Balloon Ride, and hopping into one of the sea-faring vessels of Grandpa Pig’s Boat Trip. Together we braved George’s Dinosaur Adventure and have the pictures to prove it; paid-for photos capturing precious moments on the rides proved too difficult to resist.

She was also able to blow off some steam in Mr Potato’s Playground and splish, splash to her heart’s content jumping in muddy puddles – just like Peppa.

And while we knew we shouldn’t, we just couldn’t leave without picking up some Peppa-themed souvenirs and our little girl went home in a ‘Team Peppa’ hoodie, carrying a new Rebecca Rabbit soft toy.

Last this month the adventure will become even greater with the addition of two new Peppa rides will open: The Queen’s Flying Coach Ride and Grampy Rabbit’s Sailing Club. Snort!

And while most of our day was spent in Peppa Pig World, Paultons Park is also home to much more. For real thrill-seekers there’s the Lost Kingdom; a dinosaur theme park with stomach-churning rides such as The Flight of the Pterosaur, a mighty and unique 395m suspended rollercoaster.

If, like me, you prefer to ‘hold the coats’ then venture down to Little Africa to meet some of the continent’s smaller wildlife including fennec foxes, African crested porcupines, meerkats, and Gambian pouched rats, while Critter Creek is the place for family-friendly bug-themed rides.

Tickets to visit the park start at £29.25 online and £34.25 on the day. Children less than one metre in height go free. A bargain price – especially if that includes meeting your idol.
