Market Drayton church hosts Christmas crib festival

Christmas trees and cribs festival will be launched at a church on Saturday.

It will take place in Christ Church in Buntingsdale Road, Market Drayton.

Parish priest Hywel Snook said there would be lots of activities during the day.

He said: "Last year we had a fantastic festival of Christmas Trees and Cribs.

"We had eight trees decorated by various organisation across the town.

"We also had various cribs decorated with the thought 'If Jesus was born today how and where would he be born'.

"A total of 11 cribs were provided and decorated by various organisations associated with the town.

"These included Mount Lane Nursery, the Market Drayton branch of the Royal British Legion, Mencap, Buntingsdale Primary School, Beacon Centre, Tiny Tigers, Market Drayton Over 60s Club and JR Williams.

"A local art group, Market Drayton ATC and the foodbank were also among those that contributed to the event.

"This year we are holding a similar festival on Saturday.

"We have Market Drayton Junior School, Music Land and U3A singing for fun. Each group will perform a set of Christmas songs with teas, mulled wine and mince pies afterwards."

The church will also be holding carols for healing and bereavement on Wednesday at 7.30pm and carols by candlelight on December 20 at 6.30pm.
