Now four years after he was senselessly killed in the town, Ben's music is set to raise money for the charity which supported him. Ben was a talented musician, who through the cruelties of circumstance, fell outside of society's safety net, ending up without the shelter of a home of his own.

He was 43 when he was killed, the victim of an horrific and unprovoked attack in September 2012.

The tragedy of Ben's death led his family to create Shrewsbury's Big Busk festival, which has since raised thousands of pounds for the Shrewsbury Ark, a charity which helps homeless and vulnerable people in the town.

Now Ben's sisters Karen Higgins and Annie Hambley have teamed up with local musician Paul Henshaw and his wife Nikki to share their brother's music with the world – and raise money for the Ark.

On Sunday they will officially launch the single 'Alone in the crowd, my mate and me' at Shrewsbury's Boathouse, which is available to pre-order online from today.

The song was originally recorded by Ben while at university, and is now a duet featuring Paul and his wife, painstakingly recorded at Backyard Studios in Churchstoke.
