It's a dream come true as mascot Corley leads out the Welsh team
A football-mad youngster from Shropshire is the envy of all his classmates after leading the Welsh national team out onto the pitch against Macedonia.
Ten-year-old Corley Stevenson, from Market Drayton, led Sunderland defender David Vaughan onto the turf at the Cardiff City Stadium last night in front of thousands of fans.
The pupil at Market Drayton Junior School had won a competition with the FA to be a player escort for Wales' penultimate World Cup Qualifying match, which they won 1-0.
And Corley, who is a season ticket holder at Wolves, also went on a tour of the ground, met the players and had lunch as part of his prize.
He said: "It was really good and I want to do it again. I was standing next to Craig Bellamy which was amazing as it's his last international game for Wales.
"I was nervous but very excited when I walked onto the pitch and my friends will probably be jealous when I tell them about it."
His mum Nadine added: "It was absolutely amazing and the whole day was just ace. Everything like visiting the players' changing rooms was just surreal.
"It just gave you goose bumps seeing him walk out onto the pitch and we've had loads of texts from friends saying they saw him on the pitch and in the dugout."
It really was a once in a lifetime experience but now he wants to do it again at a Wolves game!"
Corley, who is also a ball boy for Market Drayton Town, was one of 22 mascots on the day. Corley applied to the FA in February and found out last month that he would be helping lead out Wales in their match.
Simon Church scored the only goal of the game, as Wales lifted themselves off the bottom of Group A with a 1-0 win.
