Up to 12 jobs are being created by a Shropshire estate agent as part of ambitious new expansion plans.

DB Roberts & Partners is to open a marketing centre by October in Shrewsbury in a move to help prospective buyers.

Chairman Bill Brookes said between eight and 12 posts will be created as part of the plans, which follow strong sales results in the last six months.

He said the DB Roberts board saw the opportunity, with the scrapping of Home Information Packs, to bring forward expansion plans.

He said: "These centre around changes in how and when property buyers search properties, including increasing use of the internet and an expectation for service providers to follow the example set by financial organisations in being available at times which suit customers with demanding jobs and busy lifestyles."

DB Roberts said there was no intention of leaving the high street and have pledged to retain all their branches, with a "strong possibility" that the number of these will rise from the present 13.

Sales director Jo Culley said: "The central aim of the project is to give our clients what they want. So over the first weeks after the marketing centre opens, we will review clients' comments and develop new and better services to meet their expectations of estate agency in the 21st century."
