Blog: AFC Telford attention turns to Mansfield

AFC Telford fan Rob Hughes blogs ahead of Saturday's match against Mansfield, after a dramatic draw at Cambridge last weekend.

Attention turns to the arrival of Mansfield Town - The Stags on Saturday afternoon at the New Bucks Head. In our previous two meetings against Paul Cox's men, we are so far unbeaten.

Mansfield appear to be one of the sides that have thrown a bit of money towards promotion this time around and it's going to be our job to stop them from getting up a head of steam, whilst at the same time doing our own hopes of consolidation the world of good.

We have shown so far, that if we are on our game, we are a match for many of the sides in this league. With the patience and backing of the supporters, I am sure we have the capacity to get a positive result out of Saturday's fixture.

Let's aim for a 2,500+ crowd - Mansfield will bring a few, but the more home fans we can bring in, the more we have available to continue strengthening the side and continue looking up the league rather than back down it!

Our squad has been taking something of a hammering with the injuries of late and returns from injury and suspension are still possibly some way away. However, I am still buoyed by the performance at Cambridge and the fact they have played together and have had some game time together means they will have established more of an understanding that will stand us in good stead.

Spray and Rooney will be chomping at the bit for a return to the starting line-up, but their replacements Jones and Davies both grabbed goals, giving manager Andy Sinton a bit of a selection conundrum. It's up to him to pick the side that can ensure we register a further three points on the board.

C'mon down to the New Bucks Head and see the boys in black and white do all they can to secure the three points!
